United States Attorney Glenn T. Suddaby announced today that RAYQUINSHAWN HARRISON, a/k/a “Pilla,” age 23, of Albany, New York, was sentenced in United States District Court, Albany, New York, before United States District Court Judge Gary L. Sharpe, to Count 1 of a federal indictment relating to the criminal activities of the Jungle Junkies gang, which operated within the City of Albany; Count 2 of a federal indictment relating to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base (crack cocaine); and to a federal Information charging him with possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He was sentenced to 100 months on Count 1, 120 months to Count 2 , and 60 months on the Information to run consecutively to Counts1 and 2 of the federal indictment, for a total of 180 months incarceration. In addition, he was also sentenced to 5 years of supervised release following his release from incarceration, and a $300 special assessment. HARRISON is the first Jungle Junkie to be sentenced. The Jungle Junkies gang members and associates operated within and near the Arbor Hill section of the City of Albany, New York, and routinely engaged in criminal activities which included crack cocaine and marijuana trafficking, possession of firearms, and acts of assault, robbery, and attempted murder against rival gang members within the Northern District of New York. This prosecution resulted from a joint investigation conducted by the Office of the United StatesAttorney for the Northern District of New York; the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Albany Field Division; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; the Drug Enforcement Administration, Albany District Office; the City of Albany Police Department; the Albany County Sheriff’s Department; the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department; the New York State Department of Corrections; the New York State Division of Parole; the New York State Police; the United States Marshal, Northern District of New York, Albany Office; the Albany CountyDistrict Attorney’s Office; the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office; the Town of Guilderland Police Department; the Town of Bethlehem Police Department; and the City of Cohoes Police Department.
