Glenn T. Suddaby, United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York,
makes the following announcement:
As a result of a joint investigation by the City of Norwich Police Department, the New York State Police-Troop C, the Village of Johnson City Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Binghamton Resident Agency-Albany Field Division, the Broome County Security Division Computer Analysis and Technical Services Unit, and the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office, the following two individuals were charged in a seven count federal indictment with various felony crimes related to: buying and selling a minor child for the purpose of producing child pornography; sex trafficking of a minor child less than 14 years of age; production of child pornography; travel in interstate commerce with intent to engage in unlawful sexual conduct with a minor child less than 18 years of age; and, possession of child pornography. 1
- DEAN SACCO, 49, of Jersey City, New Jersey, is charged under six counts of the seven count indictment, as set forth below.
- LINDA O’CONNOR, 46, of 14 Miller Street, Apartment #1, Norwich, New York, is charged in five counts of the seven count indictment, as set forth below. SACCO and O’CONNOR are each charged under the following Counts of the Indictment
and face the following maximum and minimum penalties in connection with each count:
Count 3: Sex Trafficking of a Child
In violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1591(a) &(b) and 2
Maximum period of imprisonment: 30 years.
Mandatory minimum period of Imprisonment: 15 years
Maximum fine: $250,000
Count 4: Production of Child Pornography
In violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2251(a) and 2
Maximum period of imprisonment: 30 years.
Mandatory minimum period of Imprisonment: 15 years
Maximum fine: $250,000
Count 5: Production of Child Pornography
In violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2251(a) and 2
Maximum period of imprisonment: 30 years.
Mandatory minimum period of Imprisonment: 15 years
Maximum fine: $250,000
Count 7: Possession of Child Pornography
In violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2252A(a)(5)(B) and 2
Maximum period of imprisonment: 10 years.
Mandatory minimum period of Imprisonment: no minimum
Maximum fine: $250,000
SACCO is also charged under Counts 2 and 6 of the Indictment and faces the following maximum and minimum penalties in connection with Counts 2 and 6:
Count 2: Buying a Child for the Purpose of Producing Child Pornography In violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2251A(b) and 2 Maximum period of imprisonment: Life. Mandatory minimum period of Imprisonment: 30 years Maximum fine: $250,000
Count 6: Travel in Interstate Commerce with intent to engage in illlicit sex with minor In violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2423(b) and 2 Maximum period of imprisonment: 30 years. Mandatory minimum period of Imprisonment: no minimum
Maximum fine: $250,000
O’CONNOR is also charged under Count 1 of the Indictment and faces the following maximum and minimum penalties in connection with Count 1:
Count 1: Selling a Child for the Purpose of Producing Child Pornography
In violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2251A(a) and 2
Maximum period of imprisonment: Life.
Mandatory minimum period of Imprisonment: 30 years
Maximum fine: $250,000
Following the initial appearances by the defendants on the Indictment today before United States Magistrate George Lowe, both defendants were ordered detained and were remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Miroslav Lovric.
