On August 16, 2007, a federal jury in Binghamton, New York convicted Corbin Douglas Sr. on nine of ten counts in an indictment, to include a conviction for unlawfully distributing morphine and hydromorphone, which caused the death of his 14 month old son Corbin Douglas Jr. On February 27, 2005, Corbin Douglas Jr was found deceased at the residence of Corbin Douglas Sr., in Morris, New York. An autopsy revealed the cause of Douglas Jr.'s death to be a morphine overdose and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. Investigation by the New York State Police resulted in the March 2005 arrest of Douglas Sr. who was charged with the murder of his son. In December 2005, Douglas Sr. was put on trial in Otsego County Court, Cooperstown, New York and was ultimately acquitted of all charges. Douglas Sr. was subsequently federally charged with Title 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1)(C), unlawfully distributing or dispensing a controlled substance which resulted in death. Douglas Sr. faces a maximum term of imprisonment for life. Douglas Sr. is scheduled to be sentenced on December 19, 2007 in Binghamton, New York. This case was jointly investigated by the New York State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Albany Division and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Miroslav Lovric of the Northern District of New York.
