ENOSBURG BANK ROBBER CHARGED IN FEDERAL COURT

The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Allan W. Reynolds, 22, of St. Albans, Vermont, appeared in federal court in Burlington on August 10, 2007 on a charge of bank robbery. At the hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jerome J. Niedermeier, Reynolds was ordered detained in the custody of the U.S. Marshall’s Service pending a bail hearing next Tuesday.

An FBI Agent’s affidavit, attached to a federal Criminal Complaint filed in United States District Court this morning, states that Reynolds robbed Bank North in Enosburg, Vermont on August 9, at about 4:30 in the afternoon. Reynolds allegedly stole over $5,000 after demanding money and displaying a knife to a female bank teller. The robbery was investigated by the Vermont State Police, St. Albans Barracks, and the FBI.

The United States Attorney stated that the charges in the criminal complaint are accusations only and that Reynolds is innocent until proven guilty. The bank robbery charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Reynolds is represented by the Federal Public Defenders Office in Burlington. The United States is represented by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Doherty.
