Leonardsville, New York man was arrested pursuant to a criminal complaint charging him with the possession of child pornography.

PRESS RELEASE

Glenn T. Suddaby, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York announced today that ROBERT W. FITZPATRICK, age 53, of Leonardsville, New York was arrested on May 31, 2006, pursuant to a criminal complaint charging him with the possession of child pornography. FITZPATRICK was taken before United States Magistrate Judge Randolph F. Treece for his initial appearance. He was released after posting bail.

The complaint charges FITZPATRICK with possessing child pornography on May 11, 2006. According to the complaint, law enforcement officials received information that FITZPATRICK possessed child pornography on a computer that he utilized at his residence. Law enforcement agents thereafter observed a number of video files on the computer used by FITZPATRICK. According to the complaint, these video files were obtained by FITZPATRICK from the Internet and depict minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. A search warrant was executed at FITZPATRICK's residence on June 2, 2006.

The case was investigated by the Otsego County Sheriff's Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
