The FBI's Albany Field Office has traditionally been one of the top FBI offices for the recruitment and hiring of Special Agents.  The Albany Division territory consists of Upstate New York and the State of Vermont.  Each year the Division participates in career fairs and recruiting events at many colleges and universities located throughout its territory.  The Albany Division also conducts recruitment at several military bases located in New York and Vermont to include the United States Military Academy, Watervliet Arsenal and Fort Drum.

Albany is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the Special Agent position with an emphasis on the following critical skills:

• Intelligence Experience
• Languages (particularly Arabic and Chinese)
• Computer Science/Information Technology (CS/IT)
• Law Enforcement/Military
• Science/Engineering
• Accounting/Finance
• Diversified
• Law

      The application process can take up to one year to complete depending upon an applicant's qualifications and the current hiring needs of the FBI.  It includes passing a written test, interview, polygraph examination, physical fitness test, medical physical and a thorough background investigation.
